Dr. Feelgood Burns Park Criterium Series

OK, June means it’s time for criterium racing in North Little Rock’s Burns Park. For the ninth consecutive year, road cyclists will get a chance to race weekly on a flat course around the park’s soccer fields that is just under a mile long and free of traffic in the Dr. Feelgood Ronde van Burns Criterium Series. Races are held each Wednesday evening in June.

If you are new to road racing, this is the perfect chance to get out and and turn the pedals in anger in friendly competition with lots of support.

Races are divided into three categories: the C Race, with Cat. 5 Men and Cat. 4 Women starts at 5 p.m. and is 20 minutes plus three laps long. The B Race includes Cat. 4 and 5 racers, begins at 5:40 and is 40 minutes plus three laps long. And the A Race is for Cat. 1-4 racers, begins at 6:45 and is 60 minutes plus three laps long.

Registration is day of the race only. Entry fee is $10 for each race and. All USA Cycling rules are in effect. Valid and current USAC license must be presented at registration. Cat. 5 racers who are non-licensed must purchase a one-day USAC license for $10. 

Top three finishers in the A and B races will get prize money for their efforts ($35 for first place, $25 for second and $15 for third). Sorry, Cat. 5 racers, but there will be no payouts in either the C or B race for you. So come race a lot and cat up quick so you can make some sweet scratch!

2011 Arkansas State Time Trial Championship

Course Description: The course will follow US Hwy 70 east to the junction of Hwy 70 and AR Hwy 31. As soon as the road Y's, turn at the orange marker and return to the start line for a total of 40 kilometers. The course is out and back and pancake flat. Riders will start at 30 second intervals. Junior Events will be 20 kilometers. All Senior and Master events will be 40 kilometers. The first rider will start at 7:00 a.m. You should plan to be at Galloway by 6 AM to start warming up.

Directions: To get to Galloway, take I-40 east from Little Rock to Exit 161. Look for the Galloway Truck Stop on the southwest side of the Interstate 40/Hwy 391 intersection. Proceed south on Hwy. 391 to Hwy. 70. The starting line will be near the intersection of Hwy. 391 and Hwy. 70.

General Rules: All 2011 USAC rules are in effect. Valid and current USAC license must be presented at registration. Promoter reserves the right to adjust start times modify prize lists as necessary. Event will be held rain or shine. Helmets must be worn on the bike at all times. All numbers supplied by the promoter must be used. No folding or cutting of numbers is allowed. See example at registration for specific placement. Junior riders must use gearing as per USAC regulations. The yellow line rule will be strictly enforced. Ultimately, it is the riders' responsibility to know the course! Riders may only register and compete in one category in this time trial event. You must hold a current annual race license from USA Cycling to win a Championship.

AMBCS #3: Three Legged Dog

This is Race #3 of the Arkansas Mountain-bike Championship series. Come on out and strap on a number plate or cheer for CARVE in our own backyard. Located at the BMX track at Burns Park in North Little Rock, this race always has a cool vibe. This year brings a new course layout that promises to challenge the racers without requiring multiple dismounts. Check out race information at www.DLTmultisport.com and www.AMBCS.com. Contact Mountain Bike Captain, Scott Penrod if you have any questions concerning training rides and volunteer opportunities. 



 

Dr. Feelgood Star-Spangled Classic Criterium

Come show Central Arkansas your stuff at the Dr. Feelgood Star-Spangled Classic Criterium on Monday, July 4th.  Following on the heels of the Dr. Feelgood Burns Park Criterium Series, the Classic will be held on Riverfront Drive in North Little Rock.  The event includes four criterium races and two kids races starting at 8:00 a.m.  For more information see the flyer.    Final Results
